wines for the dark months

Wine Class # 4, November 16, 1-3pm

Damp and dark, the brilliant colors of autumn are fading. We move into the muted tones of the coming solstice and a promise of lengthening days. But for now, the evenings come swiftly, the dawn is a hope that comes to fruition later and later . . . for now. So, it’s time for another wine class! Let’s talk about wines that we can get cozy with, that we can fuck to. There! that’s the colorful language that some of you look for in these write-ups . . . BOOM! Maybe the title of this next class should be: Wines For Fucking! As it says in the title, the class will take place on the 16th of this month, a Sunday, from 1-3pm. This month, being November, this class is looking to wines that may be shared over a meal, and yes, for enjoying on one’s own, or with your lovely partner, human or cat or dog, or bird… who or whatever, is the object of your affection. The wines are those that provoke something inside of us; that resonate with this time of year, be it the season of giving and celebration; or the times of quietude and contemplation. The visual imagery that comes to my mind, is the dancing light of a fire or a flickering candle; the stain of rain on the window, while it howls outside. YOU, are tucked in the cottony womb of your abode, be it outside you, or inside, or both. There will be at least one sparkling wine or two? (Champagne), some earthy reds; some gorgeously robed whites, and some other off-the-beaten-path treats. I find myself more and more appreciative of the time at hand; the time that I have available to me in this moment. That’s what these wines are about. I hope to have you here!
