early autumn wine class!
Wines that Identify as They/Them
What a stunning day to be sitting here, writing another missive! Feels like the last days of summer are upon us; the light is changing; the sun comes up a few minutes later every morning and all I can think is . . . NOOOO! I’m in denial of what’s to come . . . but what better time than now, to let you know about our next wine class, coming Sunday 19 October. September’s class on Salty White Wines was super well received and sold out. The theme for October will be, Wines That Identify as They/Them. STOKED! Space is limited so if you’d like to attend, hit the button below.
What inspired the theme for this coming month, was a descriptor I wrote for one of our Gamay Noirs. I was struck by what the wine offered, in every way, from color, to scent, to palate . . . and as I sat with it for a moment, I realized, what came to mind, was descriptors that defied the binary of being one thing or another. In this life, I’ve found myself moving away from expectations of what a wine “should” be, meeting them instead, on an individual basis, allowing them to be other than what we expect them to be! After all, there is nuance in every part of the physical and perceptual plane of our existence as human beings in the world. And while there has been a backlash against the grey area of who we are as beings, nonetheless, this nuance persists, and if we are truly in touch with who we are, then perhaps we can acknowledge the in-between; the not this & not that . . . And by removal, we could consider our experience of one of the most amazing collaborations between human and nature, that being wine! So with that in mind, this is our theme for October.
