OOPS… DID I DROP A BUTTON?
WINE CLASS #4-GASSY WINES
FOR THE HOLIDAYS!
First off, thank you for coming to this past Sunday’s Wines for the Dark Months . . . So lovely to be able to share with you all some of the wines that I find so appropriate for the dark months of late autumn and early winter . . . The upcoming class for December will take place on Sunday the 14th, from 1-3pm $50 (push the button below to purchase tickets!). Russ from Rain Shadow Meats, will be supplying some snacks to help soak up and enjoy the wine! This class will be geared toward the season of celebration and renewal, and what better way to celebrate than with some gassy bubbles . . . as in sparkling, as in Pet’ Nat’, as in Champagne, as in Cremant! It will be close to Solstice when we can all look forward to the lengthening of days again, even though January and February can be the most difficult in darkness and where I know that I’m truly ready for warmth and sunshine . . .
conjuring some weird shit during last week’s class...
This might be a class that has some actual curriculum, in that we’ll discuss the difference between the designations of sparkling wine - as in, WTF is Champagne? - and why is it that, except in these here united states (‘cuz we don’t give a fuck), you can’t call a sparkling wine Champagne if it’s not grown and made within the designated boarders of Champagne? We’ll talk about what the fuck a pet’nat’ is, and how it is different from “methode ancestrale.” BTW, in my opinion, Pet’ Nat’s have kind of gotten a similar rap to that of orange wines…. you order them, you like them, but what are they? and are they different from one another? Well, of course they are! And what’s it about a cremant, anyway? Not to get too pedantic at all… the point is, let’s try some sparkling wines together, taste their differences, maybe see why a Champagne is north of one hundred dollars and why a pet’nat’ or cremant is not? I mean, is Champagne worth the money? and for that matter, is Burgundy, or any of the other marquee regions of the wine world? It’s a question… and it brings up perceptions of value and quality and what is truly beautiful wine and what isn’t, and why? And maybe, at the end of it all, you’ll walk out with a couple bottles, loving them all the more because you learned some shit about them! Let’s gooooooo!
