Hello! goodbye! hello again!

Wow! It’s been awhile, I know! I wanted to reach out with news, such as I might have to offer, but first, want to let you know, I’m putting on a small event, Friday the 25th, from 6-9. We’ll be holding the event at my friend, Kaveh Goudarzian’s home. Kaveh is a home grown, self taught cook. He enjoys bringing together flavors and ideas from different culinary traditions, and he does it quite well! He will be creating heavy apps, and we’re selling tickets at the link below:

Autumn Wine Sale and Party

To describe what will be happening: I’ll have bottles out for purchase at the party, with wine by the glass to enjoy, while you shop around, and Kaveh will have prepared some food! Yes, I’m wanting to sell some wine, but just as importantly, I’m hoping to see some familiar faces as well as new ones, and say What’s up?!!! I would love to see you!

If you feel like reading further for news. of where I’m at, right now, in my heart and consciousness, you can read more below.

Where I’m Calling From, Right Now

I’ve been thinking alot this summer, catching up on time with friends and family; getting some amazing rides in, reading and writing. I’m still wrestllng with what might be next on the horizon, assuming the world doesn’t go up in flames. Funny! how that is a real consideration. I find myself using that phrase, when I think about anything beyond the next week! But really, I know that this has always been a consideration, as anyone who is truly alive and sentient knows this. Truly, “it is later than you think” and always has been. I was recently writing a letter to my father and in it, I’ve been considering the question of “What’s next”? Here is what I put in the letter to him, trying to explain myself and my motivations . . .

“ This is my sixty-first year on the planet. Since April, my Birthday week, my life has changed dramatically. My professional life has become untethered and a fundemental foundation of how I’ve defined myself and how others have defined me, has been set free upon a sea of unsurity. I’ve been one of not many people who can say honestly, that their work, their metier, was (and to a degree still is) a part of who they are. I’ve never thought about what I do professionally, as something I would ‘retire’ from, until I could no longer physically do the work. I love what i do, or I did until very recently, but the fundamentals of why I do what I do are still here; have never changed and never will. It’s all still inside of me! I love wine, yes. I love everything about it; the ‘why’ the grapes are grown and the where, the how or process of turning grapes, (or shepherding them to a metamorphosis into something truly sublime); the culture made possible in part, by wine . . . I LOVE IT! . . . BUT . . . The debt I owe, and what wine has made possible in the context of my life, only takes into consideration a portion of why I’ve worked with wine. The other reason, and perhaps more importantly, is the human connection, the communion, the shared narrative thread, the highlighting through wine particularly, and hospitaltiy in general, of a shared experience, rather than a divergent one. What is the next level? What is my role now? What will it grow into? What am I growing into?

“These are the questions that concern me and have always done so, not because I feel that “what” I do is that important, but how I do it. This is very important to me. I believe that true change happens one person at a time. So, with this i mind, with this as my self actuating principle, I’m attempting to change the world, one person at a time. I’m still inspired and I want to inspire! How do I do this now?”

To finish, I hope to see a bunch of you and that we get the chance to say hello!

Best, Marc
